This tool is a transliterator. It maps Latin letters onto Ogham feda. It does not translate English into Irish. The twenty historical letters are the default. Forfeda, including Peith for P, are later manuscript additions and stay off unless you turn them on.
How the mapping works
Ogham was cut for Primitive Irish, not modern English. We map letter by letter after stripping fadas to the base vowel. V uses Fearn (the F fid). K uses Coll (the C fid). NG and ST are real historical letters. J, W, Y, and X have no native fid — they are skipped, not guessed. P is skipped unless forfeda is on.
Vertical preview follows the stone habit: read from the base upward. Horizontal left-to-right is the modern screen convention.

Is this an Ogham translator or a transliterator?
A transliterator. It converts letters between scripts. It does not change the meaning of the words.
Can I use this for a tattoo or a ring?
Yes, if you review the letter breakdown first. Vertical, bottom to top, is the historical direction. Jewelry bands often run the same way along the shank.
Why is my J or W missing?
Those letters have no native Ogham fid. Use an Irish form — John to Seán, William to Liam — rather than inventing a stroke.
